Megan and Addison are growing quickly. Like both stages; I can share clothes with Megan now, definitely a perk as well as be in the baby mode with Addison. How to shop and let the baby have nap in her crib has proven difficult though.

Had a hard time with my Ellie leaving me on the first day of school. She was rearing to go and Mom was not quite so ready. She love Kindergarten though and is proving to take after her sisters and be a fabulous reader. Lost her first tooth (well except the bike accident one a few years back) a couple days ago and got to sign the "big tooth" at school

End of summer

We had a fabulous end of summer trip to Sunrive, Oregon where we rode bikes, hiked down into some great caves, went horseback riding, lots of swimming and tennis an of course great food. Great end to a memorable summer. Note Megan on the horse-the rancher told her that he was going to give her the horse with the most attitude (guess he could tell what phase she is going through) but true to his word, Megan's horse was hillarious. He would not obey any of her commands and at one point started to go down an embankment into the river. We were cracking up and still kid her about it.

Addison, we have decided, is just like Taylor (maybe even a bit busier if you can imagine) She is everywhere, in the dishwasher, up the stairs, climbing out of her crib (or rather hurling herself over) and today we found her outside standing up in her swing while it was swinging and holding onto the rope for dear life but all the while laughing. She was buckled in but she is a Houdini. WOWZA!!!!

A friend from work was able to hook us up with a fun cabin, and a raft and we were able to enjoy Wenatchee/Levenworth a couple months ago. We river rafted, hiked, swam, ate good food and enjoyed playing with Matt/Kistine and the grandparents.

Todd set up the big pool in the yard-girls got the swim suits out and of course filled the pool with littlest pet shops to play. It has been gorgeous weather here finally!!!!! Warm days of swimming, ice cream at Central Market, Todd went up to Mt. Rainier this weekend and then took Megan kayaking!!! What a great week!

Sisters have been teaching Addison to pull herself up. She now practices her stunts in her crib. I have been finding her standing up in her crib-She loves it until she realizes she doesn't know how to get down. Todd was able to go with Hannah on a once in a lifetime field trip. Their class was invited (their teacher is retired Navy) to go on the USS Abraham, tour the warship and then take about a 3 hour cruise in the Sound. Pretty cool experience-Hannah loved having her Dad go with her-wish I had dressed her a little warmer, she said it was freezing up on the deck.

Happy Birthday Todd! Yesterday we were able to celebrate two occassions. Todd's 38th birthday and Addie's 1/2 year mark, AND the very first night our baby slept soundly all the way through. Yea!! She was down for the count at 9 pm and didn't get up until 6:00 am the next day. Lovely!

Spring Break Revisited

We finally got some nice weather at the end of spring break and decided to go to Fort Warden in Port Townsend. Loaded up all the gear, 6 bikes and the trailer, diaper bag, baby bjorn, beach stuff and lunch. Wow! Had a great time, biking, enjoying the sun on the beach and scoping out Fort Warden for the Johnson family reunion in 2010.

Spring Break

No pictures to post because of course we have forgotten our camera on the last two excursions. We are on Spring Break and are enjoying doing things around here. We took the girls skiing last week at White Pass. Thanks to our good friends the Machens, we were able to outfit all of our girls in skis and take them up. Todd was awesome with them and by the end of the day they were going down solo.
Sunday afternoon it was sunny but cold and we went to Pointe-no-Pointe for a walk on the beach and hike in the woods. I glanced over at Ellie and she was playing in the water and sand wearing rain boots, her sweat pants rolled up and a down ski jacket because it was so cold. I thought, "Only in Washington."
We just got back from a mini-trip to Seattle where we went and did some shopping at University Village and visited Matt at Cheesecake Factory and enjoyed an awesome dinner. Spent the night and hung out with Matt today-went to Pike Place Market where it was pouring rain and freezing. Enjoyed some great donuts there and then made the long trek back. So far a pretty fun Spring Break.
Next excursion, definitely bringing the camera.

Addison is up on hands and knees and is moving hereself around. Crazy-but she is determined and has figured out how to get up and then pushes herself forward and then starts over again. We put her on the floor for "tummy time" constantly and then turn around and she is over on the wood floor on the eating area. Addison was finally getting into a great sleeping cycle where she was down at 7 p.m., up at 2 or so to feed and then back down until 7 in the morning. Alas, I was getting sleep. However, the last 5 days or so, she has been up literally most of the night, just wanting to nurse and sometimes even watch T.V. CRAZY! Almost like she was a newborn again having her days and nights mixed up. Well, this morning she grabbed my finger and stuck it in her mouth and her bottom tooth was sticking out, with the one beside it swollen and ready to pop through as well. Thank goodness something was causing her to be so crazy.

Hard to stay upset with this one for all her craziness in the middle of the night. She is so CUTE and squishy!!!

Funny concept at this age, but actually, today they played for about 1/2 hour with Addison doing her "tummy time" as we call it and trying to grab at all of Ellie's littlest Pet Shop. Ellie set them all up and Addison was watching and trying to grab at all of them. Pretty soon, I am going to have to gather all the little stuff up for awhile. I don't think it will be much longer as she is getting super cordinated being able to pick stuff up and put it in her mouth. Sigh!!!!! My newborn is growing up!!!

Here it is almost a month after Hannah's real birthday and we are still celebrating! She had a great 11th birthday with donuts at school for her class, homemade dinner and breakfast of her choice and then a week later a big birthday party. She invited 8 friends over for a baking party and slumber party. She helped pick out fabric for some fance aprons we made and then we had the girls make their own personal pizzas for dinner. Later that night we had my friend come and teach them some cake decorating techniques and they made cake clutch purses and decorated them. Then, a movie and of course a whole lot later, bed. Next day, I was exhausted. At one time we had 16 females in my house including my kids, Hannah's friends, about 4 of Megan's friends and the cake decorator. Lots of estrogen here!

Ellie with baby Addison. She is constantly wanting to hold her. When I tell her no because Addison is getting overstimulated she says, "Can I just kiss her foot then?" She made me very proud the other day when she says, "Do you know what I want to be when I grow up?" I came up with the usual responses like, Teacher, librarian, policewoman etc. And she says, "Nope, I want to be a Mother and have 4 children and 1 baby." Glad to know she is aspiring to be a Mom and recognizes that that in itself is an amazing path!!!

Trip to the downtown Bakery

We love going downtown to the bakery for treats. People know us downtown and at the market now because of our big brood. I love the fact that we live in such a small community that you get to know and recognize people and families.
Note my teenager who has decided it is not that cool to hang out with her family and get her picture taken. (What is she thinking? She is only 13)

Mt. Walker Trail in the Olympics. Beautiful, sunny, but cold day. Here I am wondering what we thought in taking five girls up the trail. Addison decided she didn't like hiking and fussed all the way up and most of the way down.

Of course when we were done she decides to fall asleep. Why is that????

We decided to try a day hike last week up Mt. Walker. All the complaining and crying later we wondered why. However, we really think the girls did enjoy it. We didn't make it all the way up as Addison had two big poopies and we ran out of diapers. We wrapped her in a blanket as a diaper to make sure she had some sort of barrier between her and me. An adventure!!!

I have to share a recent reality check. Today I went into Central Market with Addison in the front pack and holding onto Ellie's hand. A kind older gentleman (maybe 75-80) came up to me and patted me on the arm and said,"Bless you, Bless you." "You look like you need a nap."
Didnt quite know what to say, so I just smiled and wondered how big the bags under my eyes are. It might be time to try a new under eye concealer. No, I am not posting a picture!

We picked names and Hannah picked Taylors name and she knew that Taylor had been wanting this horse but couldn't afford it with her limitted allowance (3 bucks a month) So she saved up her paper route money and helped her Mom and Dad buy this for Taylor for Christmas. Christmas Vacation

We went to Wenatche with our good friends the Machens to their cabin. Had lots of fun night sledding with bonfire and smores at the bottom of the hill, playing games (air hockey, skeet ball, pinball machines, and of course phase ten and skipbo) Here are the girls doing the ATV's which was fun to watch. They got a little crazy once they got the hang of it. Ellie is on a little 50 engine ATV and was able to go around the track several times. I was able to go snowshoeing with my friend Kristen and got somewhat lost. Took us about 3 hours to find our way back. Ate lots of good food and played hard. Great Vacation.

Crazy Commute!!!

Okay, I have to share Todd's commute yesterday because it makes me truly grateful to be a stay at home mom. As most of you know we have seen some serious snow for Seattle. We probably got about 12 inches here in Poulsbo, the streets are still covered and there is ice everywhere because the temperatures have stayed in the 20's so nothing is melting. Todd had taken work off last Thursday and Friday because of snow and then we got a huge dumping on Sunday as well that actually shut down the airport. However, Todd needed to go into work on Monday to do payroll. So he puts chains on the mini-van, gets dressed in his snow pants and running shoes with accompanying waterproof backpack and off he goes. He drives down to the park and ride on some very icy roads. Parks the van, takes the bus from Poulsbo-Bainbridge Island and takes the ferry accross to Seattle. He then runs 4 miles to work in the snow and ice, gets to work and showers and changes, works a 10 hour day, changes back to running clothes, runs to the bank to make a company deposit only to find out the bank is closed because of trecherous weather, then runs to the ferry 4 miles away(after stopping to chat with a friend he meets on the snowy streets of Seattle, and barely makes the ferry by 3 minutes, ferries back to Bainbridge Island, hops on the bus back to the park in ride in Poulsbo, drives to Central Market to pick up medicine for Ellie, because she has a UTI (although our Dr.'s office is shut down, the on-call doctor okays a prescription based on symptoms) and then makes it home by 7:00. All in all, made for a very long day for him, but for me as well. We have been snowed in here all week. I tried to make it out last Thursday to pick up Todd and the girls as they were going on a snow trek which was a little too long for Ellie. Got a cell phone call to pick them up about 1.5 miles a way (pretty long trek for the girls don't ya think?) but I got stuck in our little car about halfway up a hill. A kind older man helped me back my car down and Todd had to go get it later. I am very content to stay at home after that until all of this clears out. Here are some recent pics of us in the snow. Like I said, this is unbelievable for this area. CRAZY!!

We decided to make out own gingerbread house out of chocolate graham crackers, homemade creame cheese icing and bulk candy from Central Market. TASTY!! Only lasted 2 days.

Taylor out sporting her winter coat and hat, and my cashmere scarf. Just got it last week and she has decided it is very warm and wants to keep it for herself. I guess the clothes sharing thing is starting a little early at the Uffens house. I think I am in for big trouble!!!
